Sunburst

Sunburst is the original authentic Czech pilsner brewed in Scotland. We combine pilsner malts in soft Perthshire waters and ignite this with the enticing aromas of Saaz and Hallertau Hersbruker hops. We then let loose our yeast, sourced from one of the oldest brewing sites in Prague.

The result? An inimitable blend of Continental class and Scottish substance in an infinitely enjoyable lager.

De Mons

The exclusive beers of the Trappist order are the monastic inspiration of De Mons Belgian Abbey. It might be sinister in name but there is nothing hellish about this concoction.

Santa's Swallie

Our HistoryOur History

  • A Dram Fine Beer Collaboration

When better to launch the region's first tipple to be aged in former whisky casks, but at a St Andrews Day Market? And this delicious collaboration between Inveralmond Brewery and Glenturret Distillery, Ooskabeer Batch #1 is a dram fine ale indeed.

  • Food & Drink Excellence Award

Delighted to have been shortlisted for the second year running for the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards 2015.

  • Annand Joins Inveralmond Brewery

Stephen Annand joined the brewery team to head up our latest drive for growth, with a specific remit to support Inveralmond’s commercial development in the UK on-trade environment.

  • “Forth” Floor Retail Date

Proving itself to be the ultimate in ‘high fashion’, Sunburst, reached the dizzy heights of The “Forth” Floor restaurant at Edinburgh’s Harvey Nichols department store.

  • A Living Wage

A very proud moment when Inveralmond Brewery was the second brewer in Scotland to be recognized as a Living Wage employer, and our MP Pete Wishart came to visit. Tastes good.

  • A Charitable Brew

Flying high on the fundraising front, Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance wanted to launch a charitable brew, and we were delighted to assist. Even more delighted that the uptake from pubs has been very strong indeed. We're a charitable bunch here.

  • A Naughty Little Runaway Rascal

Normally when you launch a beer, it's distributed, drunk and then - if you are really lucky - it wins some awards. This naughtly little Rascal, #3 in the Inspiration Series was distributed, was drunk and won an award, all before it was officially launched. Naughty little beer.

  • A New Look

Sometimes a changes is as good as a rest, they say. So it was time to give our logo a bit of a makeover, with fresh bottle visuals and a spanking new website. Suits you, sir!

  • Giving Something Back

When Scotland's Best Small Festival, Southern Fried, comes calling we were glad to partner up, and combine that soul food and Americana roots music with some temptingly good beer, Ossian.

  • Ushering in a New Era

Nothing better than a beer to revive you, so bringing back one of Edinburgh's finest IPAs from the turn of the last century was a very worthwhile cause in our brand new joint venture brewpub Ushers. Cheers everyone!

  • Excellence in Food & Drink Award?

Don't mind if we do! Always nice to get a shiny new trophy so when we were announced winners of the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Food Drink Award, it was time to crack open a beer and celebrate!

  • WE MAKE BLUE BEER!

Our local team St Johnstone made it into the Scottish Cup Final for the first time in 130 years,so we crafted a special blue beer to help supporters celebrate.

  • The Inspiration Series Arrives

We all need a little inspiration from time to time, and the best way to start is with a little Sunburst. And so it was that Inspiration Series #1 made its first appearance on this planet. And glorious it was, too.

  • We get our First Hollywood Selfie

Scots actor Alan Cumming grabs a bottle of our Homecoming beer when he's back in Scotland, and takes time to pose for a selfie while he's at it.

  •  DIGGER JOINS THE BREWERY

Digger started with us on work experience, but soon charmed his way into becoming a fully-fledged member of production staff, and is now a brewer-in-training. He once cooked dinner for Penelope Keith, and can solve a Rubik’s cube in less than 60 seconds.

  • WE GET A SHINY NEW KEGGER FROM ITALY

Our foreign parts come from Bergamot, which is not too far from where San Pellegrino is produced.

  • BIG BERTHA GETS BIGGER

We acquire our 120 barrel fermenter, Bigger Bertha. That’s 1.2 million eggcups of beer. If you like to drink your beer out of eggcups. We recommend one of our Celtic Goblets.

  • THE OLD BREW KIT SAILS OFF INTO THE SUNSET…

...and we move into our very own custom-built brewhouse just around the corner. Which doesn’t stop people getting lost and still thinking we’re in the old place.

  • OUR FIRST 30 BARREL BREW

Which just so happened to be Lia Fail. That’s enough beer for 120 casks, 660 cases or 8000 pints. At the time, this was momentous. Now, it’s not uncommon for us to mash in two brews a day.

  • THE SODS ARE CUT

We lay the foundations for our new, shiny and gigantic new brewery. Or so we thought at the time. It feels a bit cramped these days.

  • BOB JOINS THE BREWERY

When there’s a bottom line to ponder, pencils to sharpen and ideas to run up the flagpole, you need a man with a plan. First appointed as Inveralmond Brewery’s export manager for hire, Bob now directs all commercial activity. He also enforces brewery coffee standards, and once sat next to Bono on a commercial flight.

  • JOHN JOINS THE BREWERY

The brewery’s resident egomaniac, John McDuff is easily identified by his ear-shattering voice, with which he sings The Proclaimers. A lot. Our office manager claims the Queen had the privilege of meeting him three times. It is assumed this is because he chose not to serenade her.

  • MALC JOINS THE BREWERY

Malc is the tranquil force in Inveralmond Brewery, a qualified chef who brings serenity to the chaos. He’s a Bonsai expert, a keen pinger of pong, and a great fan of motorbike racing. Though he’s a gentle soul, don’t be fooled, Malc can do two finger press-ups: there’s a steely chassis under that mild exterior.

  • RICHARD JOINS THE BREWERY

Richard: former brewer, present drayman, perpetual beard-sporter. He used to go kayaking to prove his mettle after a long day’s brewing. Now, the only white waters he chases are those at the top of a pint of Inkie Pinkie.

  • OSSIAN IS GOLDEN

Winning ‘Champion Beer of Scotland’ for the first time.

  • KEN SMUGGLES CZECH YEAST

And brings it back to us from Prague to make our inspirational Sunburst Pilsner. Supplied by Brevnovsky Pivovar, it’s our claim to being the only authentic Czech Pilsner brewed in Scotland.

  • Ken joins the brewery

Also known as the Head Brewer, Ken is easily identified by his bristling mustachios and beard, as well as his characteristic call of 'Don't Panic' and purposeful stride. Known equally for spontaneous bursts of opera singing and ponderous frowns, his natural habitat is the brewery floor, where he dispenses guidance to less experienced employees, leaving occasionally to prey on unattended biscuits in the kitchen.

  • The Gates are drawn open

By a couple of Clydesdales, the traditional draught horses uses to transport beer in the olden days.
